How a Nuru Massage Works and What to Expect

Warm gel, skin on skin and a slow gliding rhythm your body remembers long after you leave. That is nuru, the technique our guests ask about more often than any other. So we wrote an honest guide to it, from the first WhatsApp message to a calm, private goodbye.

What nuru massage is and where it comes from

Nuru massage was born in Japan and its name says it all: the Japanese word "nuru" means slippery. That slipperiness is what sets it apart from everything else. Your masseuse does not work with her hands alone but with her whole body, which glides over you without friction and without ever breaking contact, thanks to a special gel.

The heart of the experience is nuru gel. It is made from seaweed and, unlike massage oil, it is colourless, almost odourless and extraordinarily slippery. It feels pleasant on the skin, rinses off easily and leaves no greasy film. We also warm it before the session, so the first touch is warm rather than cold.

What is the difference in practice? Oil gives the skin a little resistance, gel gives almost none. Touches merge into one uninterrupted stream and you stop being able to tell where a palm ends and a forearm begins, where your back ends and your hips start. That flow is what makes nuru so absorbing: the brain stops analysing individual touches and the body simply gives in.

How a nuru massage runs at our studio

Every visit has its own rhythm and we never rush. So that you know what you are walking into, here is the session step by step, the way you will experience it with us.

1. Welcome and shower

When you arrive, your masseuse greets you, shows you the room and gives you time to shower. The shower is not only about hygiene: warm water loosens the muscles and helps you leave the day outside the door. Towels and everything else you need are already waiting.

2. Setting the tone

Before the massage itself you have a short conversation. Your masseuse asks what you expect from the session, whether you have sensitive spots or boundaries you want respected. It is not an interview, just a few sentences that let you lie down afterwards and stop thinking about anything.

3. Body to body on the nuru mattress

The core of the ritual takes place on a dedicated nuru surface, a soft mattress made for the gliding technique. Your masseuse spreads the warmed gel over her body and yours and begins with slow, intuitive full body movements. She sets the pace: long glides along the back, then gentle pressure, then simply the weight of one body resting on another. The intensity builds gradually and you do not have to do anything at all except breathe and feel.

Most guests describe an unusual double sensation: the body keeps getting more relaxed while every nerve stays wide awake. It is perfectly fine to close your eyes and drift, and just as fine to say quietly that you would like a slower pace or more attention on your back. Your masseuse responds to you throughout.

4. Second shower and a private finish

After the massage the gel simply rinses off in the shower. Then there is no hurry: you have time to dress calmly, have a glass of water and let your thoughts settle. You leave when you are ready.

How to prepare for the massage

There is no science to it, but a few small things turn a good experience into a better one:

• Hygiene: you shower here, so there is nothing to arrange in advance. If you are coming straight from work or off a plane, a shower on arrival is standard, not an exception.
• Food: leave the heavy meal for another day. Lying face down with a full stomach is uncomfortable, so a light snack an hour or two beforehand is ideal.
• Alcohol: you do not need a drink for courage. Nuru is best enjoyed with a clear, calm head, and our masseuses reserve the right to turn away guests who arrive visibly drunk.
• Time buffer: do not arrive at the last minute and do not schedule an important meeting straight afterwards. The shower before and after and an unhurried ending deserve room, so give yourself a buffer and stop watching the clock.

And what should you bring? Nothing, really. Towels, shower and gel are on us; you bring yourself and the willingness to switch off for a while. Nerves before a first visit are normal and our masseuses know how to work with them. They usually disappear within the first few minutes on the mattress.

Common worries before a first nuru massage

Almost every guest coming to us for nuru for the first time carries at least one of these questions. We answer them so often that it is worth writing them down.

"Will I be embarrassed about my body?" Your masseuse works with bodies of every shape, size and age and none of it is new to her. Your build plays no part in the technique either: gel and body weight work just as well on everyone. The awkwardness usually disappears within the first minutes on the mattress, before you manage to name it.

"What if I get aroused?" Nuru is a sensual massage and arousal belongs to it. Your masseuse counts on it and never comments on it. Your job is not to control anything, only to breathe.

"And what if nothing happens?" Also fine. The body responds according to how tired you are and how much you are watching yourself. Nuru is not a performance test and your masseuse is interested in release, not in a result.

"Will I be cold?" We warm the gel before the massage, so the first touch is warm rather than cold. Most guests describe the opposite: after a while they feel pleasantly hot.

"Will the gel ruin my hair or my skin?" Nuru gel is colourless, almost odourless and rinses off easily in the shower without leaving a greasy film. If you have very sensitive skin or know of an allergy to seaweed, tell us when you book and we will agree on what works best for you.

"Will we understand each other?" Our masseuses speak Czech, English, Russian and Ukrainian, and some of them German as well. Each profile lists her languages, so you can choose the one you feel most confident with.

"What if I want to stop?" Just say so. At any point during the massage you can ask for a slower pace, for something to be skipped or for a return to what felt good. You will offend nobody and your masseuse expects it.

Who nuru suits and when to postpone it

Nuru is for guests who want an intense, sensual experience and a deep release. It fits people who already know classic erotic massage and want to go a step further, but a complete newcomer will be fine too, because the masseuse sets the whole pace. It is popular with men, women and couples alike; for a shared experience we have an erotic massage for couples.

When is it better to postpone? Common sense applies: acute illness, fever, skin infections or open cuts are a reason to move the appointment. If you have very sensitive skin or you know of an allergy to seaweed or cosmetic products, tell us when you book and we will agree on what works best for you. And if you are unsure for medical reasons, a short word with your doctor never hurt anyone.

How to choose a length and a masseuse

You make two decisions before you arrive: how long and with whom. Neither is complicated.

Length. Thirty minutes is an introduction to the technique; the booking includes your arrival, the shower, a short conversation and a closing shower, so what is left for the gliding itself is only a taster. Forty five minutes is a sensible minimum, an hour is our most common choice, and ninety minutes gives the ritual its full arc: a slow start, a long gliding section and an unhurried ending. With nuru more than anywhere else, the body only lets go somewhere in the second half hour.

Masseuse. The profiles are on the site along with the languages each of them speaks and which of our two studios she works at. You can choose in advance, but you do not have to: if you are unsure, there are usually several available at the studio and you decide on the spot.

One or two. A nuru massage can also be booked with two masseuses, at exactly double the price, so 4400 CZK an hour instead of 2200 CZK. We would not recommend it for a first visit, because nuru is intense even in its basic form. For guests who already know the technique, though, it is a more interesting step than simply adding minutes.

Studio. We have two addresses in the centre of Prague: Black Diamond at Opletalova 1566/30 in Nové Město and Tantra Club at Lužická 1416/29 in Vinohrady. Nuru massage runs at both, so you can choose purely by which is closer to you or which neighbourhood you prefer. The masseuses are listed separately for each studio, so you can see straight away who you will find where.

Discretion is a rule here, not a bonus

We understand that visiting an erotic massage studio is a private matter and we treat it that way. Booking happens over WhatsApp and a first name plus a time is all we need. The massage takes place in a closed room that is yours alone, we schedule guests so that nobody meets in the corridor, and what happens behind the door stays there. We never call you, never send reminders, never any newsletters.

The same discretion applies during the session itself. The boundaries you agree on at the start are respected without exception: nuru is intense, but it is never pushy. What a nuru massage costs and how long it takes

You can book a nuru massage in Prague in four lengths:

• 30 minutes, 1700 CZK
• 45 minutes, 2000 CZK
• 60 minutes, 2200 CZK
• 90 minutes, 3100 CZK

The shorter options are a good first introduction to the technique. If you want the ritual to have room to unfold, with a slow start, a long gliding section and an unhurried ending, go for a longer one. With nuru more than anywhere else, rushing is a waste.

The price includes a private room for the whole booking, a shower before and after the massage, towels and shower products, the nuru gel and a drink on arrival. None of it is billed separately and we charge no booking fees. You can order extra services from your masseuse, which are added at the final payment; most of them cost 500 CZK and their overview has its own page on the site.

You pay after the massage ends, in cash or by card directly at the studio. We do not ask for a deposit and nothing is paid online, so you know the price from the list in advance and nothing surprises you on site. Nuru against our other massages

Nuru is most often compared with three other rituals, and the differences are quite concrete.

• Against body to body massage: both work through whole body contact, but nuru uses gel on a dedicated slippery surface while body to body uses warm oils on a futon. Oil leaves the skin a little resistance, so touches stay recognisable; gel removes it almost entirely and everything merges into one stream.
• Against classic erotic massage: the classic is broader and more balanced, worked with hands and forearms, and it is a noticeably gentler way in. An hour costs 1900 CZK instead of 2200 CZK and it tends to be the most common choice for first visits.
• Against lingam massage: lingam has a direction and a gradual narrowing of attention, while nuru surrounds you instead. Anyone wanting depth reaches for lingam; anyone wanting to be absorbed reaches for nuru.
